Where is Gros Morne National Park

Gros Morne National Park is located on the west coast of Newfoundland, on the east coast of Canada. The Park has great glacier carved mountains, stunning coastlines and a great cultural and historical background.

Who we are?

Long Range Adventures began in 2001, offering backcountry experiences and sea-kayaking tours. Long Range Adventures was started by Daine Hewlin, who grew up in the park and is native to the area. Since 2001, Long Range Adventures have won several awards, including the Youth Venture of the Year, for all Newfoundland and Labrador for 2003.

Now in 2006, Long Range Adventures are growing to be one of the best outdoor adventure companies in all of Atlantic Canada.

How To Get Here?

By Air - Deer Lake is the closest airport, about a ½ hour drive. Car rentals are available at the airport, but reservations should be made prior to arrival. Transportation to and from the airport is provided in all multi-day adventures.

By Car - Travel to North Sydney, Nova Scotia, overnight ferry crossing to Port Aux Basques. Travel the Trans Canada Highway to Deer Lake and then travel north on the Route 430, the Viking Trail to Gros Morne National park

By Bus - Coach Canada offers bus service to the ferry crossing in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Take overnight ferry to Port Aux Basque, there will be a bus there that will bring you to Deer Lake called DRL, then take the Viking Express bus service to Gros Morne.

What To Bring?

Gros Morne National Park usually is a moderate climate and ranges in temperature during the summer months of June till September temperature of 15-20˚C. All you really need is good pair of hikers with ankle support, rain gear and some warm and breathable clothing. Oh and of course our camera, because you will be sorry if you don't. For Multi-day Adventures there will be an equipment list provided in reservation kit.

Are there big groups on each tour?

Here at Long Range Adventures, we are dedicated in offering personalized tours with a maximum group size of 8 for our multi-day adventures, although we do offer groups as high as 30 (see Groups and Families), we have a 1:4 guide to client ratio. This offers clients to ask questions and communicate with ease.

Our Guides?

Our guides are very familiar with the area. They are experienced and trained to answer any questions you may have and have extensive training in the flora and fauna of the areas. Also all of our guides are qualified in Wilderness First-Aid, and all outdoor activities.
